MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY
My approach is one of openness and collaboration with the clinical radiation oncology team. My goal is always to build a strong team with diverse areas of expertise and experience to ensure the best clinical outcome for the patient and business environment of the organization. The best possible team leader, in my opinion, is one that is capable of understanding and directing the assets within the group - equipment, vendor relationships, and human resources - without impeding the talent, creative energy and resourcefulness of the team members. This requires balancing the high level vision of the organization with the ability to work on a day to day basis with the team to accomplish the clinical requirements of the medical practice. Years of working within different types of practice environments has given me a unique perspective on how to optimize team productivity to accomplish the organizational goals.
Medical physics is an exciting and challenging professional environment. It requires both technical knowledge and expertise as well as strong leadership and organizational skills. My medical physics practice has spanned three decades and I continue to stay on the front line of new technology and treatment techniques while maintaining standards of high quality physics practice.
CORE VALUES
High Quality Physics and Radiation Safety: My primary focus is to provide a foundation of high quality physics support to the radiation oncologist. This requires the implementation of standards of practice that adhere to national standards - AAPM, ASTRO, ACR, IROC. Safe implementation of radiation oncology treatment requires these standards be embedded into the treatment process.
Respectful Engagement: Collaboration is key to any successful medical practice. At times there are diverse opinions that conflict. I will always maintain respectful decorum even when strong personalities and opinions are expressed when determining the optimal direction of the program/process.
Wise and Selfless Counsel: The physics management work that I do is always focused on the patient. The goal is to continually bring all of my experience and knowledge to the table as objectively as possible with empathy and understanding of all parties involved.
